Chalices

A Chalice (from Latin calix, mug, borrowed from Greek kalyx, shell, husk) is a goblet or footed cup intended to hold a drink. In general religious terms, it is intended for drinking during a ceremony.

In Roman Catholicism, Eastern Orthodoxy, Oriental Orthodoxy, Anglicanism, Lutheranism and some other Christian denominations, a chalice is a standing cup used to hold sacramental wine during the Eucharist (also called the Lord's Supper or Holy Communion).

Chalices are often made of precious metal, and they are sometimes richly enamelled and jewelled.

The gold goblet was symbolic for family and tradition.

Pewter Chalice. Deep cup with simple styling with the St. Cuthbert cross design. This is a heavy Chalice and perfect for communion with a wide opening​​

All of our pewter is lead free.  Pewter is a soft metal and will mark with use, but that just adds character. As pewter is lead free it will not darken like the pewter of old, but it will dull down to a warm tone. Pewter is cleaned by washing in hot soapy water and drying with a very soft cloth.
