Clergy Cassocks
The cassock, an item of clerical clothing, is a long, close-fitting, ankle-length robe worn by clerics of the Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, Anglican Church, and some clerics of the Reformed, and Lutheran churches. The cassock derives historically from the tunic that was formerly worn underneath the toga in classical antiquity. The word cassock probably comes from the word "casaque" which means cloak; or cassaca, which means white. In older days, it was known in Latin as vestis talaris.
Although the cassock was formerly the universal everyday clothing of the clergy, many have abandoned it as in favour of a clerical suit of more conventional design. However, the cassock is now coming back as a popular every day clerical garment and one that is often employed in liturgical services and functions.
Our Clergy Cassocks are fully bespoke and as such, we use your measurements provided to construct a stunning garment. These cassocks are very popular as they can be worn all year round without being too heavy and can be washed and cared for at home without specialist cleaning if required.

We also offer 3 styles of fastening for your cassock: Fully working 33 x silk buttons, Fly front with mock fastening silk buttons with working buttons hidden underneath the fly front or mock fastening silk buttons with a full length zipper fastening beneath. All 3 styles maintain the traditional exterior appearance of the garment.

To complete the look we also offer a Pellegrina shoulder cape, which is detachable from the cassock collar or a Mozzetta which is used with Choir dress.
​
We also offer 33 buttons on the cassock to represent our Lord Christ's earthly years. You can also opt for 5 other buttons on each cassock cuff and these are for the 5 wounds He suffered on the cross. When the priest's hands are held together, these 5 buttons from each hands represent the Ten Commandments.
Cassock fastening style options
When you place your cassock order online, we will confirm the order with you and discuss the fastening style that you wish to choose. There are 3 main styles that we offer and you may select one of these as shown below:
Fully working 33 x silk buttons with button holes
33 x mock fastening silk buttons upon a fly front. Standard button fastening under the fly front (With or without button holes)
33 x mock fastening silk buttons upon a fly front. Zipper fastening under the fly front (With or without button holes)

Mozzetta:
The mozzetta is a short elbow-length cape that covers the shoulders and is buttoned over the breast. It is worn over the rochet or cotta as part of choir dress by some of the clergy, among them the pope, cardinals, bishops, abbots, canons and religious superiors. We offer 2 distictive styles; an open collar or the more traditional closed collar style. See the range we can offer as below.
